Kingscote School Nativity Play collection - £870 - This is always a tough event to attend as William was due to appear in it just 2 days before he died in 2000. He did watch it whilst clutching his Angel outfit and helped Mrs Tunstall give out the gifts at the end. He presented me with a clematis plant from the school and it flowers repeatedly throughout the year, I'm told this is quite unusual for this type of plant, but now after 6 years I thank William for bringing me the little bit of colour and fond memories. We did however have Henry in the Nativity play this year as an angel and we thank William for sending him too!! The Kingscote parents are always so generous for the collection and I know Dr Mitchell really appreciates this ongoing support. Thank you to Kingscote and all the parents, oh and the boys too for putting on such a brilliant show! Beehive & Honeycomb Nursery (Fulmer) Dec-06 £200 - We are honoured to be the recipients once again of the proceeds of the Beehive and Honeycomb Nursery end of term concert collection. I imagine it must have been excellent for the collection to be so good! Thank you everyone at the nursery for your ongoing support. If anyone has any photos we can show on this site please email them to me!
Matlock Bakery - Guess the weight of Pumpkin Dec-06 £80 - Once again the growers of Matlock competed to grow the biggest Pumpkin and display it in the local Bakery where customers were invited to guess the weight and make a donation to us. It must have been a whopper as they raised a fab £80. Thank you to all involved. We look forward to seeing the size of the 2007 pumpkin!! Black Horse Christmas Raffle/New Year Dec-06 £582 - The Black Horse once again sold thousands of Williams Fund Christmas Cards and held raffles, fun events and of course was home to William's Wishing Well for the Festive Season! This total does not include their card sales which were fantastic. Thank you to Kay and Brendan and all the regulars for their continued gererosity. See below for photos of the presentation at the Black Horse with the golf team, also incorporating the Black Horse presentation of money made over Christmas 2006, featuring James Keane who did a Bagpipe Disrobing on New Years Day!!
Greyhound Cup Golf via Black Horse Dec-06 £3,000 - In Dec the lads from the Black Horse took part in the Greyhound Cup Golf match. The teams have run this event for a few years but this year they had more prizes donated and a lot more money was raised. Kay and Brendan from the Black Horse were asked to nominate a charity and suggested us! We thank you all! The Cup is named after the Greyhound pub in Chalfont St Peter... confusing but true! Carol Singing organised by Jane Ferris at Gerrards Cross Station Dec-06 - This is the 4th year Jane has held up commuters at the station! This year Jane almost got electrocuted whilst dangling her tinsel too near the track!! The station was decorated and an announcement made on the incoming trains to alert passengers to get their wallets out!! A record £515 was collected... the singing must be good! Thanks to Jane and all her team especially Matthew and Anna who I know try very hard with all thier fund raising.
Carol Bell 40th party Dec-06 - Carol Bell hosted a party for her 40th Birthday and asked for donations to Williams Fund instead of gifts. A whopping £515 was raised. A huge thank you to Carol for being so generous in donating her 'birthday money' and to all her friends for their generous contributions. Carol you look fantastic... are you sure you're 40?!
We've got Heeleys - the shoes that cruise £2800 was raised
Christmas Cards The 2006 Christmas cards have now sold out - but some of the cards from previous years are still available. See Christmas Cards
Local walkers raise over £2700 for Childhood Cancer Research. On Sunday10th September a group of over 20 local residents set off from Westwood Park on a 14 kilometer walk to Sarratt Village and back. The aim was to raise money for research into childhood cancers. William's Fund raises money to support this research at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. It was a warm, sunny late summer's day and the route took the walkers alongside the river Chess, passing the watercress beds and through Dawes Wood to The Boot Pub on Sarratt Green. Along the route, money was raised from passers-by and the Proprietor of The Boot also made a generous donation. After a welcome lunch and rest, the walkers then set off for home, passing Chenies Manor and through the Latimer Valley . Everyone had been sponsored to take part in the walk and by the end of the event, over £3109 had been raised for the hospital. The day was a huge success and it was decided that the walk would become an annual event.
There had previously been a raffle of a bottle of Whisky signed by Tony Blair, kindly donated by Rachael Beechener when she left her coach positin with Chalfot Otters. After the BBQ the Otters then went on to a sponsored swim for William's Fund which replaced the usual Sunday training for the whole club. Many miles were swum by determined swimmers and we would like to thank them all. Money raised is still being collected so watch this space for the Total. Many thanks to the Chalfont Otters Club for all their support and especially to Andrew West and George Bushell . Angels Gather Here broke away from the Christmas Fair and went all summery with a glorious display of items for sale in Chris Myers garden, the garden itself is a pure delight!! The entry was by donation to William's Fund and they raised £75 Thank you Chris once again We have had several donations in memory of loved ones lost recently, I do not wish to name them but we really appreciate your thought and our thoughts are with you, Thank you. The Village Hall pub -5 a side football held their 3rd 5-a-side Football tournament in aid of William's Fund, another fabulous day on the common in Chalfont St Peter, the teams all played in good spirits with 2 women players on the pitch at all times!! The Rose and Crown (formally Best of the West) returned to defend their title from 2005 but lost to the fantastic Ladyboyz in the semi final, the Ladyboyz went on to win the 2006 tournament 5-1 against the Magners . Plate winners were the Italian Diving Squad who beat the Legends 1=0 I spoke to the teams in the final before the game and got the following quotes: ‘ There's only one winner in this and that's William's Fund!' from the Ladyboyz Captain David Tabram from Ward Builders. The Magners had fewer words with ‘ Ta very much for for a lovely day!' pre match nerves perhaps?! Following their massive win the Ladyboyz , sponsored by Ward Builders of Datchet , said of the Magners ‘ We're fit we're hot, we're everything they're not!' … will we see a re match next year…? Many thanks to the Village Hall, especially Tom and Jack, and all those to took part. The total raised was £375.76 Ladyboyz in maroon kit lying on grass - see photos - click for larger image
Jane Ferris - Mother and Daughter dance class organised by Jane Ferris which was extremely popular and raised £677
