4th July 2017 saw the Lady Captain of Gerrards Cross Golf Club Christine Constable, welcoming 84 ladies for a golf day in glorious sunshine! It was lovely to see so many cheerful, coordinated golf fanatics polishing their clubs and collecting the water bottles in coolers (gifts from the captain!) as they left for the 1st hole, all adorning William’s Fund stickers of course! Fast forward a few hours as the ladies appeared at the 19th hole – The William’s Fund Washing Machine chipping competition! (machine kindly supplied and delivered by Able Appliances) A light hearted rest with a glass of bubbly as the ladies attempted with varying success to hit the ball into the machine… a feat accomplished by 5 clever ladies! We also had some fabulous children’s books written by local authors and donated to William’s Fund which sold well for children and grandchildren – superb selection!
All the ladies were extremely welcoming and despite a long game in the sun, remained cheerful and supportive. Helped of course by the constant flow of bubbles supplied by Chris and his lovely staff behind the bar..!
Once everyone was refreshed and changed we were seated for a delightful tea and joined by some ex GXGC members for prizegiving – which was a much more polite affair than the men’s events i have attended!!
Christine really did have a wonderful Lady Captain’s Day ( you can read her write up here ) Thank you Christine and all who played, supported and helped.
